Our Newest Adventure

I look out the window at the copious amount of snow that is laying in large piles along our street and around our house. Our lawn is still completely covered in white.  A glance at the calendar tells me we are 16 days into spring.  Though it feels nothing like spring, it is still a good day to talk about spring!

SPRING signifies new life and renewal which is such a fitting concept for us.  We are in a season of spring, after several years of what feels like a long, harsh winter.  We are excited beyond words to see what God is going to blossom from a few bare sticks that we have poked in the ground. We are ready to give wings to some of our dreams and trust that the things that are meant to flourish, will.

Exciting!! “What’s up?” you ask.  We are launching a NEW BUSINESS!

When we came up with the concept of Born to Adventure a few years ago, we knew the idea wasn’t complete. Now we have much more clarity and we are pumped about our new business that is offering vacation & adventure photography experiences around Fernie, the East Kootenays, & the Canadian Rockies.  Heck!  What am I talking about?!  We will go anywhere!  Check out our website for more of the nuts and bolts! The idea may seem a little foreign. “You mean people are going to hire you as an adventure guide and photographer while they are on holiday?  I have never heard of such a thing?!”

Yep, they are. We love the concept and we think others will too. We see photography not just as a way to be snap-happy with our iPhones to record happenings that we might share on social media; we see photography as a celebration.  A celebration of joys and struggles and all the moments that make life beautiful and messy. Our business is about taking those thoughts and combining it with vacations and adventure; celebrating memories, and giving our customers real products in their hands (gorgeous albums and prints). Then they will always be able to re-live their moments and tell their stories.

Adventure feels like a kind of ‘glue’ that holds our family together.  We have never experienced any other medium in life that develops friendship and teamwork like adventures together do. And often we don’t make time for it unless we are on vacation or are intentional about putting it on our calendar. Because we believe in the benefits of time together out in nature, we want to enable others to experience these same benefits. Not everyone has the skills to adventure without a guide.  Not everyone has the time or inclination to organize their own adventure. And not everyone is a professional photographer. Born to Adventure combines it all!!

If you are reading this because you are family or personal friends, we just want to say thanks.  We have had a bit of a wild ride since we moved to Canada.  Not much has worked out like we imagined and your support and encouragement has been so important to keep us going through our grey days.

This is another new beginning.  Some days, running our own business feels scary and ridiculous.  It is also exciting and invigorating and we can’t wait 🙂
