One of my goals of family photography is for it to not be *painful*. I want to help parents avoid the stress of perfect clothes and perfect kids. I aim for it to be simple and fun; a reflection of what makes the family tick.
I love to photograph full-on adventures; Fernie is a great place for that! And I also love to photograph a family just playing together at one of the many beautiful locations our mountain town has to offer. This family opted to have their adventure playing at one location, which works GREAT for a photoshoot. So much variety in one little area!
Mom had made a fishing line out of a stick, string and cork, and their little guy was amused for ages pretending to fish in the creek. I love to see kids entertained by something so basic. All our effort to give them *stuff* and yet when children are led into an outdoor playground there is so much exploration and engagement that can happen that is SO GOOD for them. Piling leaves and running through them, throwing rocks in the creek, examining bugs and critters along the way and getting time to play with Mom and Dad are life’s simple and important pleasures.
